Here is Mango Menus' easy recipe for cranberry sauce which you can package in jars for your friends in true domestic goddess form. I have to admit that this year's batch worked out particularly well as the only port I had in the house was a (very old) vintage. Thankfully my husband does not have time to read my blogs...

    What you need:

    450g frozen cranberries
    60ml port or Marsala wine
    Zest of one orange
    230g sugar (white or coconut)
    50ml sherry vinegar
Pinch of ground cinnamon and allspice

    Method:

Put everything in a large saucepan and simmer for 10-15 minutes, with the odd stir. Don't worry if it looks too runny as it will thicken once in the jars. It's THAT easy. Put it into an old jam jar and tie red ribbon round the lid to make it look festive.

Makes 2 jars and keeps in the fridge for a few weeks.
