    Fat Bombs

    August 6, 2017

Unfortunately I got back from holiday to find something else had also returned.... So, I am back on the offensive, not that I had ever really relaxed, and have been shifting my diet from vegan to full blown ketogenic which means very high fat, limited protein, lots of veg, and strictly no carbs/sugar. The theory is that this diet, helped along the way with some intermittent fasting, can put the body into a state of ketosis where it burns fat for energy, while starving cancer cells of their beloved glucose. It's a good anti-cancer diet and has also shown promising results in treating epilepsy and weight loss.

Fat bombs are a great way to create parcels of the very best fats (cultured butter, coconut oil, nut butters, MCT) which you can snack on or add to berries, the only fruit allowed on a ketogenic diet. If you can close your eyes you might even think it's ice-cream! Most recipes I came across include artificial sweeteners which I cannot abide so I omitted these and just relied on the coconut, cinnamon and vanilla for sweetness.

    LET'S DO THIS!

    What you need:

    1 cup coconut cream

    2 tbls almond butter

    2 tbls peanut butter

    2 tbls MCT

    2 tbls cacao powder

    1/8 cup coconut oil

    40g cultured butter

    Inside of one vanilla pod

    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

    Method:

Blend the ingredients and freeze in small moulds. Once frozen you can pop them out of their moulds and keep in one container or ziploc bag.
